Wanda S. Ballard, 98, of Altamont, died at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the Lutheran Care Center chapel in Altamont, with the Revs. Willie Deuel and Nick Robertson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in North Grove Cemetery in Celina, Ohio. Visitation was held one hour before services at the Lutheran Care Center chapel. Gieseking Funeral Home in Altamont was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Ballard Nature Center, First United Methodist Church or Lutheran Care Center, all of Altamont. Mrs. Ballard was born on Monday, June 7, 1915, in Mercer County, Ohio, the daughter of Harvey and Pearl Haney Shimp. She married Homer Robertson of Cowden, and he died in 1986. She married Ernest C. Ballard of Altamont, who died in 2003.
Survivors include sons, Tom Q. Carpenter of Bokeelia, Fla., and Dick M. Carpenter and his wife Carole Lawrence of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and daughter Rebecca and her husband Ray L. Adams of Tempe, Ariz.
