William F. "Bill" Morton, 90, of Mattoon, formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, in Mattoon.
Services will be held at noon on Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia, with the Rev. Doug Wodtka officiating. Burial will be in Morton Cemetery in rural Vandalia. Visitation will be held from noon until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials: Haley Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Vandalia. Mr. Morton was born on May 12, 1926, in Vandalia, the son of Wallace and Alice Roosevelt (Oglesby) Morton Brown. He married Norma Jean Williams on Oct. 8, 1949, in Vandalia.
He was a farmer and a retired employee of the Illinois Department of Transportation, and a member of Haley Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife; son, Johnny Bill Morton and his wife Donna of Charleston; daughter, Janie Morton of Indianapolis, Ind.; and grandson, Jonathan Morton and his wife Julianne.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Fairy Fogler.
