William G. "Bill" Rademacher, 93, of Vandalia, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in Vandalia.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at First United Methodist Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Terry Westerfield officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the church. Memorials: Evans Public Library, First United Methodist Church or Vandalia Alumni and Friends Foundation, all of Vandalia. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rademacher was born on Nov. 30, 1922, in Gillespie, the son of Frank and Ollie (Elvers) Rademacher. He married Iris Jean Brooks on Aug. 17, 1952, in Vandalia.
Bill graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1948, and in 1952, he received a master's degree in educational administration from Colorado State College of Education in Greeley, Colo. His teaching career included teaching business for four years at Northwestern High School in Palmyra, one year at Shelbyville High School and 31 years at Vandalia Community High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from February 1943-August 1946, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Vandalia.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Stephen Rademacher and his wife Barb of Imperial, Mo., and David Rademacher and his wife Beth of Sandoval; daughter, Lea Ann and her husband Bruce Rubin of St. Peter; sister, Ivonia and her husband William of Gillespie; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willis and Walter "Sonny" Rademacher; and sister, Clara Fraser.
