William "Dude" Swick, 91, of Vandalia, died at 1:26 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia, with the Rev. Robert Weaver officiating and with military rites accorded graveside by Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 of Vandalia. Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Swick was born on Jan. 5, 1923, in Wayne Township in Missouri, the son of William J. and Martha A. Ladd Swick. He married Mary "Eileen" Horn on April 15, 1952, in Lovington, N.M.; she died on Feb. 16, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Bill Swick and his wife Cheryl of Brownstown; and daughters, Georgia and her husband George Blackerby of Vandalia, and Pam King of Greenville, Ohio.
