Zelma Nellie Wilson, 93, of Edwardsville, formerly of Bear Grove Township in Fayette County, passed away at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton, with the Rev. Randy Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at Paynic Home of Funerals in East Alton. Memorials: Hospice of Southern Illinois. Online condolences may be expressed at www.paynicfh.com.
Mrs. Wilson was born on April 20, 1946, in Bear Grove Township, Fayette County, the daughter of Frank Robert and Nellie K. (Bingaman) Miller. She married Harold George Wilson on April 20, 1946, in Vandalia; he passed away on Oct. 13, 2005.
She worked for Shell Oil Co. as a clerk for seven years, although her volunteer work kept her busy for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader, was active in the River Bluffs Girl Scout Council and was a past district chairperson. She was past president of the East Alton Women's Club. She was also an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Alton, where she was active in the women's group and served as treasurer.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Jean and Michael King of Edwardsville; grandson, Brett King; sister, Dorothy and her husband David Ullom of Talent, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Opal Wilson of Coulterville and Ella Mae Wilson of Ballwin, Mo.; brother-in-law, Willard Wilson of Edwardsville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
