Helene Agnes Fredericka Stine, 90, of Brownstown, died at 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in St. Peter, with the Rev. William Emrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home in Brownstown and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church. Memorials: St. Peter's Lutheran Church or Lutheran Care Center.
Mrs. Stine was born on Aug. 20, 1922, in the Bethlehem community in rural Altamont, Effingham County, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha Berg Mercier. She married Lewis William ""Bill"" Stine on April 20, 1947.
In addition to being a mother and homemaker, she had been employed at Gene's Red Fox in Brownstown for many years. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Linda and her husband Roger Herrman, and Nancy and her husband Michael Kistler, both of Brownstown; sister, Laura Hollman of St. Peter; son-in-law, Bruce Boaz of Brownstown; sisters-in-law, Doris Mercier of St. Peter, Esther Stine of Brownstown, and Katherine and her husband Bill Peeks of Jonesboro, Tenn.; grandchildren, Bruce Boaz Jr., Christina and her husband Kevin Kramer, Brian Herrmann, John Herrmann and Wes Kistler; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Kramer, Isaac Kramer and Stacy Boaz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Boaz; and a brother, Harry Mercier.
