Ronald D. Denton, 72, of Decatur, formerly of Vera, died at 3:02 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur.

Mr. Denton was born on May 27, 1940, in Vera, the son of Henry and Darlene Kaygee Bingham. He married Barbara Alsbury on Jan. 22, 1959, in Vandalia.
He was a retired employee of Firestone in Decatur, and he served in the Marines. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Decatur, American Legion Post 105 in Decatur and the United Rubber Workers Labor Union in Decatur.
He is survived by his wife; son, Doug Denton of Champaign; daughter, Debra and her husband Scott Krause of Elwin; brothers, Junior Denton, Randy Bingham and Robert Bingham; sisters, Linda Davis, Sabrina Lineberry and Roberta Bingham; grandchildren, Elizabeth Gille, Andrianne Gille and Devin Krause; and great-grandchild, Elaina Lee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Dale Bingham; sister, Jeannie Durr; and grandson, Christopher Pygott.
