Daisy A. Durbin, 93, of St. Elmo, entered eternal rest at 6:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Trinity Chapel in St. Elmo. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in rural St. Elmo. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday at C&A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo. Memorials: St. Elmo FFA, New Horizon Church, Trinity Chapel or donor's choice.
Mrs. Durbin was born on Nov. 17, 1919, in Fayette County, the daughter of Russell and Gracie Hedges Hopper. She married Clifford Durbin on Feb. 2, 1939, at the county courthouse in Vandalia.
She is survived by children, Tena and her husband Greg Matas of Oreana, Marilyn and her husband Dwayne Dial, Charlie Durbin and his wife Nancy, and Barbara and her husband Paul Shelton, all of St. Elmo; grandchildren, Doug Dial, Randy, Ryan and Kyle Matas, Chelsy and Clifford Durbin, Joshua, Amy Fulk, and Deana and Dana Shelton; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all six of her brothers, Marion Hopper, George Hopper, Walter Hopper, Earl Hopper, Bill Hopper and Freddie Hopper, who died in infancy; and sisters, Bertha Hopper and Dolly Hopper, who also died in infancy.
