Irene M. Meseke, 94, of Ballwin, Mo., formerly of Vandalia, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, with the Rev. Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Miller Funeral Home in Vandalia was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Meseke was born on Oct. 21, 1919, in Marion County, the daughter of Henry W. and Helena A. Malchow Beckmeier. She married Norman J. Meseke on April 28, 1940, in Shobonier; he passed away on May 31, 1984.
She was a sales manager in children shoes; was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Vandalia, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and American Contract Bridge Association; and served as a hospital volunteer.
She is survived by daughters, Phyllis Ewald of Ballwin, Mo., and Judith and Michael Earickson of St. Louis, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Dr. Ronald Meseke, in 1993; four brothers; and one grandchild.
