Charles Leon Miles, 64, Saint Francis, passed away Monday, Aug. 19, 2013 at Robley Rex VAMC in Louisville.
He was born on Nov. 29, 1948 in Marion County. He was a former employee of International Harvester in Louisville and a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, James Leon and Mary Josephine Hornback Miles; one sister, Rita Faye Graham; and three brothers, Melvin, Sammy and Tommy Miles.
Survivors include: his wife of 41 years, Judy Downs Miles; one son, Charles Leon Miles Jr. of Campbellsville; three granddaughters, Emma Miles, Rebecca Raley and Hannah Raley; his buddy, Ricky Alvey; two sisters, Deverial Livers (Lambert) of Lebanon and Darlene O'Bryan (Tommy) of Shepherdsville; six brothers, Graves Miles, Johnny Miles (Diane) and Gordie Miles all of Louisville, Marion Miles (Edith) of Saint Francis, Bernard Miles (Rosalind) of Lebanon and Danny Miles (Jessica) of New Haven; and one sister-in-law, Janice Miles of Loretto.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 23, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Saint Francis, with interment in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Honor Guard. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
Visitation is from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 and 3-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are his nephews, Chris Livers, Joey Raley, Mel Miles, Cadle Miles, Gori Robey, Shawn Robey, Dan Miles, and Chad Miles.
Honorary pallbearers are Randy Mattingly, Allen Robey, Gary Hawkins, Phillip Nalley, Bobby Blair, Walter Livers, David Downs, Jude Alvey, Brian Alvey, and Tony McCauley.
Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
