Charles Ray "Charlie" Meredith, 70, Holy Cross, passed away Dec. 2, 2013 at his residence.
He was born on Jan. 28, 1943 in Louisville. He was a retired mail carrier with the Bardstown Post Office, a U.S. Army
veteran and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles Ray Meredith Sr. and Doris Victoria Duff Meredith; and one brother, Terry Meredith.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years, Margaret Downs Meredith; three sons, Kevin Meredith (Karen) and Chuck Meredith (Leona) all of Holy Cross, Sean Meredith of Louisville; six grandchildren, Hannah, Candice, Benjamin, Nicholas and Luke Meredith and Gabriel Curtis; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Trent Curtis; two sisters, Charlene Mickel and Vicky Shaffiei both of Sellersburg, Ind.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2560 N. St. Francis Road, Loretto. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto.
Pallbearers are Neal Cornett, Chuck Meredith, Scott Meredith, Ben Meredith, Troy Pitcock, and Wayne Hagan.
Honorary pallbearers are Danny Ray Cissell, Mark Downs, Paul Downs, and Wayne Wimsett.
Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
