Eugene Newton(1930 - 2014)

Eugene Newton, 84, Holy Cross, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on March 17, 1930 in Holy Cross. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Charles Marion and Lula Catherine Cissell Newton; two sons, Wayne and Glenn Newton; five sisters, Elizabeth Nalley, Alice McIntyre, Ursula Riggs, Lula Taylor and Anna Marie Newton; and five brothers, Robert, Charlie, J.P., Tommy and Bud Newton.
Survivors include: his companion, Jean Lakes; three daughters, Karen Dean (Steve McCoy) and Debbie Blair (Bobby) all of Saint Francis and Lou Smith (Ike) of Greenbrier; two sons, Bill Newton (Vickie) and Gene Newton (Missy Miles) all of Saint Francis; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters, Dorothy Newton of Bardstown and Arletha Miles of Holy Cross; the mother of his children, Betty Newton of Bardstown; two daughters-in-law, Rosie Newton of Bardstown and Brenda Newton of Holy Cross; and his caregiver, Robin Miles.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 3560 N. St. Francis Road, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 5 p.m.
Pallbearers are Thomas Newton, Tracy Newton, Gregory Smith, Bailey Smith, Bandon Willett, Billy Livers, Rick Lakes, and Thomas Mattingly.
Honorary pallbearers are Scotty Newton, Chad Newton, Beth Downs, Darcy Mooring, Aleshia Riggs, Amy Nally, Jennifer Newton, Crystal Livers, and Brittany Blair.
