Fred C. "Junior" Tate Jr., 81, Lebanon, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in Lebanon.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1932 in Boyle County. Tate was a farmer, a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He loved farming. His accomplishments included: Outstanding Young Farmer, Holstein Cow Grand Champion of the Kentucky State Fair, soil conservation awards, served on the state board of ASC, and was actively involved in numerous farming organizations.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Elsie Helen Simpson Tate; and his parents, Fred and Bessie Webb Tate Sr.
Survivors include: three daughters, Judy Tate Blackwell and Beverly (John) Thomas, both of Lebanon, and Melanie (Don) Schneider of Coto de Caza, Calif.; a special friend, Marie Mattingly; seven grandchildren, Brad Blackwell, Matthew Thomas, Caroline Thomas, Andrew, Paul, Jaclynn and Justin Schneider; and three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Landon and Olivia Blackwell.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, at Lebanon Baptist Church with interment in Ryder Cemetery. Dr. Wesley Noss and Dr. David Whiltock officiated.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Lebanon Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
Active pallbearers were Matthew Thomas, Landon Blackwell, Paul Schneider, Steve Wright, Justin Schneider, Todd Simpson, Bradley Blackwell, and Alex Greer.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Lebanon Baptist Church.
Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.
