John Paul "The Pope" Miles

John Paul "The Pope" Miles, 83, Louisville, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at home surrounded by family.
Miles was a native of Calvary, and the eighth of 12 children of the late John Richard and Susan Beavin Miles. He was also a retired boiler operator for Rohm & Haas, and was the owner of Bennett-Miles Heating and Cooling. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Spalding Council, a member of the American Legion Shawnee Post 193 and a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Abell Miles; children, Cathy Doan (Jerry), Joan Miles Strickland and Joseph Miles; sisters, Margaret Mary Davidson (Henry), Barbara Ann Potts and Mickey Schawe; a brother, James Beavin Miles (Marjorie) and his grandchildren, Christopher Strickland (Angel) and Matthew Strickland.
A funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, with burial in Lebanon National Cemetery, Lebanon.
