Joseph Gary Mattingly, 64, Loretto, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on April 7, 1950 in Marion County. He was a retired employee of G.E. Appliance Park and a veteran of the U.S. Army
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph Daniel and Addie Mayola Carrico Mattingly.
Survivors include: his wife of 41 years, Stephanie Essex Mattingly; three daughters, Melinda Peterson (Kevin) of Loretto, Tabatha Hamilton of Manton and Jessica Mattingly of Saint Francis; six grandchildren, Dylan Peterson, Wyatt Hamilton, Taylor Clark, Emmy Hamilton, Aliyah Mattingly and Noah Mattingly; two sisters, Charlotte Mattingly (Ricky) and Diane Bradshaw, all of Lebanon; one brother, Cooper Mattingly (Mary Margaret) of Loretto.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Saint Francis, with burial in the church cemetery where military rites were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. The Revs. George Illikkal and Emil Kandor concelebrated.
Pallbearers were Greg Mattingly, Cooper Mattingly, Kevin Peterson, Joe Williamson, Steve Downs, Benny Hayden, Michael Mann, and Matthew Mann.
Honorary pallbearers were Doyle Downs, Jimmy Medley, Stuart Newton, Daniel Mattingly, Bob Cissell, Billy Downs, Randy Mattingly, Steve Ballard, Bill Lyons, Tommy Wheatley, Dylan Clark, and Steve Thompson.
Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of arrangements.
