Martin Eugene Bickett

Martin Eugene "Nick" Bickett, 86, Loretto, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
He was born March 29, 1926 in Loretto. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown, an independent cattle truck driver, a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and a member of the Loretto Sportsman's Club.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Martin Eugene and Rosella Mattingly Bickett; and three brothers, Paul, Pat and Mike Thompson.
Survivors include: his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Ann Cecil Bickett; five sons, Gene Bickett (Beverly) of Campbellsville, Bill Bickett (Karen), Michael Bickett (Rosie) and David Bickett. all of Bardstown and Kevin Bickett (Dora) of Loretto; five daughters, Judy Masterson (John) of New Hope, Brenda Peake (Larry), Nell Bickett (Becky Aimesbury), and Linda Thompson (Mike) all of Bardstown, Irene Downs (Curtis) of Loretto; 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Jane Woodard and Rosella Batcher, both of Louisville.
Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, St. Francis, followed by interment in the church cemetery. Rev. William D. Hammer and Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle concelebrated. Rev. Deacon Eddie Hutchins assisted.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Eric Downs, Leo Peake, Keith Downs, Scott Bickett, James Thompson, Stevie Edelen, Jason Masterson, and Garrett Thompson.
Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of arrangements.
