Edgar Francis "Ed" Mattingly, 90, of N. Doctor Street, Springfield, died at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his residence.
He was born on Oct. 12, 1927 in Marion County. He was a lifelong farmer in Marion and Washington County, was a U.S. Army veteran of the World War II era and was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Joseph Hubert and Mary Rose Fields Mattingly; his wife, Teresa Marie Abell Mattingly, Dec. 19, 2017; a son-in-law, Eddie Carrico, May 4, 1999; five brothers, J.B., Bob, Hubert "Cat", Richard, and Joe Mattingly; and two sisters, Marie Mattingly Brown and Anna Belle Mattingly.
Survivors include: five sons, Mike (Cheryl) Mattingly, Terry Mattingly, Kevin (Amanda) Mattingly and Todd (Cindy) Mattingly, all of Springfield, and Greg (Angie) Mattingly of Lebanon; three daughters, Pam (Danny) Marks of Lebanon, Debbie (Mark) Collard of Lexington, and Lisa Carrico of Springfield, wife of the late Eddie Carrico; one sister, Mary Rose Ballard of Botland; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great- grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 1, at St. Rose Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Edmund Ditton, O.P. officiated.
Pallbearers were Eric Marks, Bart, Cole, Stuart and Cody Mattingly, and Bryan Carrico.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home, Springfield.
