Joseph Barton Thompson passed away on Sept. 6, 2018 in Cleveland, Tennessee.
He was the son of the late Joseph Bernard and Margaret Brady Thompson. He attended St. Charles High School in St. Mary before joining the U.S. Army. He met Glenda, his wife of 57 years, while stationed at the Nike Missile bases on the shores of Lake Erie near Cleveland, Ohio. They were married at St. Charles Catholic Church; then moved to Washington, D.C. where sons David and Christopher were born. His daughter, Catherine Sue, was born later in Chardon, Ohio. The family moved to Cleveland, Tennessee where they were members of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. In 1981, Joseph and the family moved to Youngsville, Louisiana where he founded the newspaper "The Weekly Mail". Later Joseph and Glenda returned to Cleveland, Tennessee to retire in quiet comfort.
Survivors include: his wife, Glenda; daughter, Catherine of Cleveland, Tennessee; sons, David (Lisa) of Columbus, Ohio and Christopher (Lori) Angleton, Texas; sisters, Bernice Lawson and Linda Thompson of Marion County and Patricia Nieters of Crestwood; and grandchildren, Aaron, Michael, Joseph, Zachery, Chase, Nathan, and Fletcher. 
His memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28, 2018 at St. Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon. All family and friends are invited.
