Joseph Melvin Ewing, 81, Lebanon, passed away at 7:47 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville with his wife and four children by his side.
He was born on Sept. 28, 1936 in Marion County. He had worked as owner/operator of Ewing Auto Sales for many years. He was also a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, James Clarence Ewing and Lucy Bradshaw; a daughter, Lisa Ann Ewing; a granddaughter, Amy Jo Mattingly; four brothers, Clarence Jr., John Irvin, Francis Gerald, and Francis Otho Ewing; and two sisters, Lucy Ann Ewing and Dorothy Ewing Buckler. 
Survivors include: his wife Jeneva Marlin Ewing; four children, Glenda Luckett of Lawrenceburg, Lucy Ann (Jim) Vanover of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, Joseph Melvin "Joe" Ewing of Harrodsburg, and Martha Lynn Jeffries of London; two brothers, Billy Ewing of Louisville and Glen (Pat) Ewing of Georgetown; two sisters, Carol Craven of Louisville and Betsy Lou Mattingly of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Dec. 21, at St. Augustine Catholic Church. 
Pallbearers were Dylan Ensor, Austin Hunt, Isaac Mattingly, Jeremy Hawkins, Blake Jeffries, Kerry Hawkins, and Kyle Thomas.
Honorary pallbearers were Craig Jeffries, Travis Hunt, Troy Marlin, Toby Marlin, Jim Vanover, Joe Benningfield, Todd Marlin, Will Hunt, Tyler Hunt, Zach Hunt, and Eli Thomas.
Contributions are suggested to the family for funeral expenses.
