Marie Lewis "Ree" Spragens, 92, passed away Sunday, Oct.14, at Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
Marie was a native of Georgetown. Marie's passion was people and she loved the companionships formed through church work, her twice weekly bridge clubs, the Monday Study Club, Thoreau, and Woman's Club. Her devotion to her family and friends took first priority however, as she surrounded herself with the children, grandchildren, beloved friends and extended family she cherished. Marie was talented and had many interests including her passion for flying, which led her to achieve her pilot's license as a young lady.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Judge Robert M. Spragens; mother, Lily May Lewis; father, James R. Lewis; and her only sibling, Joy Barlow.
Survivors include: a niece, Laurel Marie Barlow of Georgetown; nephew, Rev. Robb Barlow of Shelbyville, Indiana; one stepson, Robert M. Spragens Jr. (Nancy) of Lebanon; two stepdaughters, Marian (James O.) Cook of Lebanon and Alyson (Gary) Barrier) of Grapevine, Texas; and one brother-in-law, Robert Barlow of Georgetown.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lebanon United Presbyterian Church, Lebanon, with burial in the Georgetown Kentucky Cemetery. Rev. Peggy Birmingham, Rev. John Russell Stanger, and Dr. Robb Barlow officiated.
Pallbearers were Jim Cook, Aaron Smith, George Spragens, Render Parkman, Kaelin Reed, Dean Spragens, James Spragens, and Les Lala.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may take the form of contributions to the Lebanon United Presbyterian Church or the .
