Marie Wheatley Grigsby, 89, formerly of Lebanon Hill, Springfield, passed away at 11:42 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown.

A native of Washington County, she was born on Nov. 18, 1923 to the late Stephen Joseph and Mary Etta Thompson Wheatley. She was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church, a homemaker and a former employee of the Springfield Laundry and the Dollar General Store. For the past eight and a half years she was been a resident of the Colonial Health & Rehab Center in Bardstown.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Joe Ben Grigsby; a sister, Barbara Corbett; and three brothers, Joseph "Buster" Wheatley, Jimmy Wheatley and Billy Wheatley.
Survivors include 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8 at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Rev. Culpepper Elliott, the church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the St. Dominic-Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Alan Corbett, Derek Peavy, Peyton Peavy, Jamie Corbett, Greg Wheatley and Derek Sidebottom.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
