Merritt D. Lewis, 86, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014 in Louisville.
He was a native of Lebanon, a graduate of Millersburg Military Institute, a Navy veteran of World War II, retired rural letter carrier in Jeffersontown, a greeter at Walmart, and a volunteer at Baptist East Hospital. He was a member of West Broadway Baptist Church, serving as deacon and usher, a 50-year member of Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge #774 and a past member of Jeffersontown Optimist Club.
Survivors include: his wife of 59 years, the former Norma Jean Bohannon of Lebanon; his children, Robert J. Lewis (Judy) and Jean Merritt Stephens (Ralph); and grandchildren, Patrick Kirk, Kelly Kirk, Nicole Stephens, Tammy Brown, and Carrie Halstead.
Funeral services were held at Fern Creek Funeral Home, Louisville, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens, Mt. Washington.
