Thomas Durham Brown, 87, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Cedars of Lebanon after an illness.
He was born on May 13, 1930 to the late James H. Brown Sr. and Elizabeth Durham Brown in Springfield. He was a member of The Church In Jesus' Name, Apostolic Church in Columbia, (Pastor - Bishop Richard A. Brown).
He is preceded in death by: his first wife, Rita Mae Brown; son, Boyce Groves; brother, James Henry Brown; sisters, Isabelle Jones, Bertha Spaulding, and Edna Bolden; grandchildren, Rita Marie Lynn Brown, Destiny Graves, and Evette Wright; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife, Lillian Brown of Lebanon; sons, William Thomas Brown (Agnes) of Florida and Bishop Richard A. Brown (Betty) of Bowling Green; daughters, Dianne Boyd, Brenda Duncan, both of Bowling Green, Eva Thomas, Barbara Porter, Tevis Brown, all of Lebanon, Martina (Luis) Vargas of Florida, Bertha Lee Burrell (Dennis) of Indiana, and Mary Frances Thompson (Alex) of Springfield; brother, Sylvester Brown of Lebanon; sister, Clara B. Duckworth of Louisville; 42 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several great-great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at United Methodist Church with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery.
The family requests visitation on Friday, Feb. 9, from 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Campbell-Fisher Funeral Home, Lebanon.
Pallbearers are Elder Boyce Groves, Danny Thompson, Kevin Smith, Charles Buckner, William Leslie Buckner, and Elder Harland Jewell.
Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Spaulding, Clarence Morrow Jr., James Jones, and Curtis Jones.
Campbell-Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
