William S. "Billy" Mattingly, 83, Lebanon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1934 in Marion County. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Henry Francis and Mary Melvina "Mallie" Spalding Mattingly; his stepmother, Leola Medley Mattingly; five sisters, Betty Lou Brady, Eleanora Wade, Ruth Ann Sapp, Jeanette Hughes, and Jane Nally; two infant brothers, Joe Vincent and Henry Francis Mattingly; and one stepbrother, Darryl Medley.
Survivors include: his wife of 58 years, Doris Mattingly; four sons, Terry Mattingly (Denise) of Raywick, Rick Mattingly of Georgetown, David Mattingly (Susan) of Louisville, and Mike Mattingly of Lebanon; eight grandchildren, Nikki Mattingly Waldeck, Daniel Mattingly, Scott Mattingly, Jordan Mattingly, Allison Adams, Morgan Lane, Davis Mattingly, and Will Mattingly; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Eunice Luckett and Fran Craven (Donnie) all of Louisville and Rosie Mattingly of Lebanon; six stepsisters, Carmel Cecil (Bernard) of New Hope, Beverly Simms and Mary Cambron (David) all of Loretto, Martha Mattingly (Frank) of Bardstown, Kathy Graves (David) of Louisville, and Jeanie Edelen (Mike) of Fisherville; six stepbrothers, Carl Medley of Louisville, Jimmy Medley (Burma), Sammy Medley (Cheryl) and Tommy Medley (Rita) all of Loretto, Leo Medley (Cathy) of Taylorsville, and Charles Wayne Medley (Debbie) of Lebanon. 
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Raywick, with burial in the church cemetery where military rites were conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Rev. David W. Naylor presided.
