James Thomas Yaste, 80, born in Lebanon, Marion County, Kentucky on April 20, 1933, returned to his Heavenly Father on Feb. 20, 2014.
Yaste was a Korean War veteran, having served in the 96th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a Mason and a retired employee of Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company. He was an artisan and a skilled craftsman who took pride in building his own steam engines. He loved bluegrass, gospel, and country music. He was a devoted family man and friend who will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by: his wife of 50 years, Marilyn Bland Yaste; parents, Goebel Yaste Sr. and Delora Phillips Yaste; sisters, Sadie Lee Yaste, Juanita Yaste Raley, Quinta Yaste Keith; and brother, Bill Yaste.
Survivors include: his four children, James Thomas Yaste of Lexington, Joseph Terrence "Terry" Yaste (Bobbie) of Shepherdsville, Wanda Dorayne "Dodie" Yaste Thompson (Steve) of West Point, Ga., and Judy Yaste Manning (Curt) of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren, Jason Tinnell, Whitney, Craig, James, Carly, Michael, Jenny and Penny Thompson, Max and Michelle Manning, Aynsley Waldroup, Leslie McDowell, Danielle Goemmer; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Goebel Yaste (Faye) of Loretto, Vernon "Jack" Yaste of Lexington; sisters, Lacheta Yaste Jarboe of Lebanon, Pat Morton (Craig) of St. Louis; brother-in-law, Richard Keith of Somerset; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, with interment in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiated.
Pallbearers were Jason Tinnell, Craig Thompson, James Thompson, Max Manning, Curt Manning, and Mark Yaste.
Bosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
