Adolph Benjamin Hilpp Jr., 94, Lebanon, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Hospital, Danville.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1919 in Bardstown. Hilpp was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, member of the Lebanon V.F.W. Post 5910, former co-owner of Hilpp's Restaurant, was a regional manager for the Louisville Times, Courier-Journal and Lexington Herald Leader from 1936 until 1982, worked as a Pari-mutuel Clerk at Churchill Downs and Keeneland from 1966-2011, and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Adolph B. and Julia Ann Abell Hilpp Sr.; a son, Raymond B. "Bennie" Hilpp; two brothers, Robert F. "Bobby" Hilpp and Edward Hilpp; and two sisters, Alice Jean Johnson and Evelyn Heslin.
Survivors include: his best friend and former wife, Frances H. Montgomery of Lebanon; two sons, John Kenneth Hilpp of Louisville and Paul Freddie (Jill Rucker) Hilpp of Lebanon; two daughters, Patricia (Ed) Hays of Danville and Barbara D. Hilpp of Danville; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Lebanon, with interment in the church cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Paul Hilpp, Ben Hays, Jim Bob Moore, David Kehm, Marion Thomas, and Carl Mattingly.
