Obie Slater, 85, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014 at Village of Lebanon.

He was born on March 24, 1929 in Bentonia, Miss. He was the former manager of Club Cherry, owner of a record shop in Danville, and retired from Matsushita Manufacturing Company in Danville. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Levi and Nellie Ann Slater; brothers, Jeff and Lee Ones Slater; and sisters, Flora Manning and Minnie Ingram.
Survivors include: a son, Todd Anderson of Lebanon; two daughters, Gail Napier of Harrodsburg and Karen Hicks of Kokomo, Ind.; a special nephew, John Ingram of Danville; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Lebanon First Baptist Church with interment in Ryder Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Calhoun officiated.
Pallbearers were George Hamilton, Alonzo McQuire, John Ingram, Bruce Warren, Douglas Ford, and David Napier.
Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.
