James Edwin Thompson Jr., 42, Louisville, formerly of Springfield, died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at Hurstbourne Care Center in Louisville following a short illness.

Born Jan. 31, 1970 in Lebanon, he was a graduate of Washington County High School, attended St. Catharine College and Hales Corner Seminary in Milwaukee, Wis. for five years and had been a property manager for New Direction Corp. in Louisville.
Survivors include: his parents, Edwin and Margaret Mary Spalding Thompson of Springfield; a brother, Shawn Michael Thompson of Lexington; two sisters, Rhonda (David) Riney of Springfield and Shannon (Mike) Tackett of Lexington; a niece, Nicole Riney; and three nephews, Addison Riney and Kirk and Clark Tackett.
A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Springfield with Rev. Jack Caldwell, Rev. Culpepper Elliott, Very Rev. Mark Spalding and Rev. John Lesousky officiating. Burial was in St. Rose Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Smith, Addison Riney, Reed Spaulding, Doug Johnson, Terry Richardson, and Edward Thompson.
Honorary pallbearers were Tracey Johnson, Debbie Wakefield, Nicole Riney, Kirk and Clark Tackett, and Frank and Jacob Fritts.
Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.
