Carl Wesley Crews Sr., 86, Lebanon, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at the N.H.C. Care Center in Hendersonville, Tenn.
He was born on March 12, 1926 in Bradfordsville and lived most of his adult life in Lebanon. He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church where he taught the adult Sunday school class for many years. He retired in 1993 from Jane & Linda Sportswear in Lebanon, having worked there 33 years as a cloth cutter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Mary Louise Tungate Crews; his parents, Pomeroy and Iva Crews; two brothers, Chester Ray and Marion Leonard 'Jake' Crews; and a sister, Theresa Jean 'Tessie' Marlowe.
Survivors include: a son, Carl (Carol) Crews Jr. of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; a daughter, Marilyn Diane Crews of Louisville; a brother, James Robert 'Bob' Crews of Bradfordsville; two sisters-in-law, Wilma Crews of Lebanon and Babe Crews of North Carolina; brothers-in-law, Manuel Marlowe and James Beavers; a very dear friend, Gertrude Baker of Danville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, with interment in Old Liberty Cemetery. Rev. Darren Gillespie officiated.
Active pallbearers were Jason Dudgeon, Trey Crews, Scott Dudgeon, Brandon Graves, Daniel Crews, Jon Zimmerman, and Johnny Beavers.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Crews, Gertrude Baker, James Beavers, and Dr. Raul Couret.
Bosley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
