Mary Clarissa Mudd Kelly, 88, Lebanon, widow of Richard Michael Kelly, Sr., passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at Colonial Health and rehab Center, in Bardstown.

The second of 13 children, she was born in Lebanon on June 12, 1925 to Charles Robert Mudd and Mary Helena Spalding Mudd. Clarissa was a lifetime member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Lebanon. She was her mother's helper to her younger siblings who lovingly referred to her as 'Sister'. After high school graduation, she worked at Lerman Bros. until her marriage. She was known as 'Grandma Kelly' to many children for whom she babysat, as well as to her grandchildren who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard Michael Kelly Sr.; parents; two brothers, Joseph Ellert Mudd and Charles Robert Mudd Jr.; and two sisters, Hazel Marie Mudd Thompson and Helen Ann Mudd; and a brother-in-law, Bernard Thompson.
Survivors include: three children: Richard Michael Kelly Jr. of Lebanon, Charles Donald Kelly (Nell) Georgetown, and Helen Jeanette Kelly (David Blandford) of Lexington; four grandchildren, Alex Blandford of Gainesville, Fla., Ryan Blandford of Cincinnati, Ohio, Kristen Blandford of Washington, DC., and Brad Kelly (Elizabeth) of Edgewood; five sisters, Dolores (Francis) Thomson, Benita (Larry Jr.) Riney and Sister Susan Mary Mudd, O.S.U, all of Owensboro, Maggie (Patrick, Sr.) Hayden, and Dianne (Vic) Simi of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Patricia Marirea Mudd of Louisville; three brothers, Victor Mudd Sr. (Pauline) of Lebanon, Leonard Mudd Sr. and Joe Lawrence Mudd (Brenda) of Louisville; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 5, at St. Charles Catholic Church, Lebanon, with interment in the church cemetery. The celebrant was Rev. Jim Graf.
Pallbearers were Brad Kelly, Alex, Ryan, and Kristen Blandford, Mike and John Cecil, Joe Vic and Lenny Mudd, and Mark Thomson.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at Colonial Health and Rehab Center and to a special friend, Helen Caldwell who have shown much love and care.
