Sylvia, This has opened such a flood gate of beautiful memories with you and Bill. Mother called me from Roswell to let me know that Bill had gone to meet our heavenly father. I am so sorry for the hurt you feel and the loss your family will feel for years to come. But know this, you and Bill made such an influence in my life and taught me that through Christ our Lord I could handle all things.

Sylvia,
While I pray for you and your family. I'm remembering Dr. Powell's leadership as I served as SPRC chairperson M.L. Harris United Methodist Church. I always admired how straightforward he was but fair at the same time.
A church member called and told me of his passing and she relates to you as the lady who preached Romans 8, I do too.
I'm so glad that I touched shoulders with Bill and you.
God Bless,
Minnie Carlisle

Sylvia and the entire Powell family,
The Memorial Service for Bill today was a great Blessing for all who attended. Rev. Beckum did a masterful job of capturing the real essence of Bill Powell: a Christian man, a wonderful friend, a loving husband, a truly good man! Shirley and I agreed that it was the only "funeral" we had ever been to that we really enjoyed. It was truly a Celebration of Bill's life!!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Libby, and the whole Powell family at this time.
I knew Bill only in his latter years, but I enjoyed very much playing golf with him at CCC every Sat & Sun for several years. He was my dear friend and I will miss him.

Just wanted to let you all know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this the loss of a dear family member to you all. No one can fill the recent void made by his passing. My husband and I worked with the youth of St. Andrew U.M.Ch. as youth counselors for 17 or so years. One or two of our most favorite summer workers were Kathy Randell and Mitch Watts. The void left by Kathy has traveled with us over the years and know that she sits at the right hand of God, along with her beloved mother, Janet. Mitch, we see on fb and communicate with him from time to time. There have been various others whom we've kept in touch with over the ensuing years. May God richly bless you all at Bill's passing.
