Era Florence Barber December 29, 1914- August 24, 2016 Columbus, Georgia- Era Florence Barber, 101, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 peacefully at her home. Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. (C.S.T.) Monday, August 29, 2016 at Old Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Dothan, Al. with the Elder Micky Smith officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga. Ms. Barber was born December 29, 1914 in Geneva County, Al. daughter of the late Mark and Minnie Graham Barber. Although Ms. Barber was currently living in Columbus, Ga., her home was always in Dothan, Al. It was there that she worked and retired after 36 years from the Dothan News. She loved her family, friends, neighbors and her 12 special nieces and nephews. She also had a great love for her church and church family. She was the last surviving member of Old Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church and honorary member of Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church. God gave Era Barber a wonderful and long life. She will fondly be remembered for her sweet spirit, green thumb and famous peanut brittle. Survivors include Twelve nieces, nephews and their families. Begor, Doris Jarriel - Columbus  
Doris Jarriel Begor October 25, 1926- August 18, 2016 Columbus, Georgia- Doris Jarriel Begor, age 89, resident of Columbus, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 212 12th Street, Columbus on Saturday, August 20, 2016, 2 p.m. with Reverend (Dr.) James C. Elder, Jr. officiating, according to Striffler-Hamby, Columbus. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service at the church. Private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. Mrs. Begor, daughter of the late Elisha Pinkney Jarriel and Anna Mae Anderson Jarriel, was born October 25, 1926 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was a graduate of Palm Beach High School and Palm Beach Junior College. Mrs. Begor moved to Columbus in 1950 and has been actively involved in the community to include the Ivy Garden Club; Delphian Study Club; Chattahoochee River Club; and former leader of Brownies and Cub Scouts. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, the Joy Sunday School Class, and Bible Study II. Mrs. Begor is survived by her husband of 71 years, Arwood Begor of Columbus; two daughters, Sally Crummey and her husband Eric of Dunwoody, Georgia and Susan Arnold and her husband Jimmy of Waverly Hall, Georgia; one son, Steven Begor of Deerfield, Illinois; four grandchildren, Brian Beatty of Roswell, Georgia, Alison Begor Lawless and her husband Lawrence of Lexington, Kentucky, David Begor and Scott Begor, both of Chicago, Illinois; six great-grandchildren, Brian Beatty, Jr. Matthew Beatty, John "Jack" Beatty, and Kelly Beatty, all of Roswell, Georgia, Aidan Lawless and Gavin Lawless, both of Lexington, Kentucky; many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to First Baptist Church, 212 12th Street, Columbus, Georgia 31901 or Columbus Hospice at www.columbushospice.com . Joseph Harlan Berryman December 16, 1934- August 16, 2016 Cataula, GA- Born December 16, 1934, Joseph Harlan Berryman, 81, of Cataula, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother Louise Algood Berryman, father Joseph Welthey Berryman and sister Maxine McMurray. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Peggy Turner Berryman; daughter Bridget Berryman of Cataula, Georgia; son Joseph Allen Berryman (Jennifer) of Houston, Texas; granddaughters Stephanie Berryman of New Braunfels, Texas and Chelsey Velo (Zack) of Austin, Texas; sisters Marilyn Heard (Charles) and Beth Vaughter (Alan), both of Elberton, Georgia; sister Joy Jordan (John) of Royston, Georgia; brothers Faine Berryman (Betty) and Wendall Berryman (Patti), both of Elberton, Georgia; brother-in-law Robert McMurray of Lavonia, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews; and friends too numerous to mention. Mr. Berryman was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Mark Walker Sunday school class. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He loved his family completely and always put their needs ahead of his own. His life was a testament to the power of integrity, friendliness towards others, hard work, and service to the Lord. His gentleness of spirit and kindness of heart touched all who knew him, and he will be dearly missed. Visitation at Striffler-Hamby on Macon Road on Saturday, August 20th at 2:00 p.m. with service following at 3 p.m. Burial at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21st at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21st in Elberton, Georgia at Forest Hills Memorial Park cemetery.
