Rhoda A. Hall June 25, 1968- June 14, 2016 Columbus, GA- Ms Rhoda A. Hall of Columbus, passed away Tuesday at Midtown Medical Center. She was 47 years old and resided at 3065 Waddell Drive. Born in Ft, Benning, GA., she was the daughter of Ms Jacqueline Cody and the late Earl Hall. Residing in Columbus most of her life, she attended William H. Spencer High School and graduated high school in Germany. She received her Associates Degree from CVCC and was employed as a CNA at Columbus Hospice House, She was a devout member of South Columbus United Methodist Church where she was active as a Greeter, served with the Hospitality Ministry and the Bereavement Committee. Surviving other than her mother are one daughter, Courtney R. Miller; one sister, Renee Loving(Charles); aunts and uncles, Gwendolyn Franklin Dedman, Carolyn Lewis and Bernard Hall; nieces and nephews, William Wiley(Tiffanie), Cody Loving, Candance Loving and Cameron Loving; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Rhoda will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Park on her birthday, Saturday, June 25, 2016 following a Eleven O'clock Celebration of Life service in the sanctuary of South Columbus United Methodist Church, officiated by Pastor Reggie Williams. Visitation 2:00 til 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence Saturday at 10:30 A.M. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. Harris, Betty Jane - Goldsboro  
Betty Jane Harris April 14, 1925- June 22, 2016 Goldsboro, NC- Betty Jane Harris, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family. Betty was born in Russell County, Alabama on April 14, 1925 to the late Johnnie and Sarah Brown Harris. She was married to the late Jacob A. Harris. Betty had been a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Goldsboro since 1966. She was devoted to her church, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God. Betty leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and support for the people she cared about. Her beautiful warm smile will be missed by all who knew and loved her. A service celebrating Betty's life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Rufus Butner officiating. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall immediately following the service. Betty is survived by her daughters, Sandra Diane Harris of Goldsboro and Robin Melody Harris of Asheville. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack Harris and Pete Harris. Harvey Jr., Deacon James - Columbus  
Deacon James Harvey, Jr. February 28, 1938- May 24, 2016 Columbus, Georgia- Deacon James Harvey, Jr. of Columbus, GA passed May 24, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice at Franciscan Woods. Funeral Services will be 1:00PM Thursday, June 2, 2016 in the chapel of Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC, 1605 3rd Avenue, Columbus with Rev. L. Wesley Myers, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Moore's Store Road, Louvale, GA according to Hill-Watson-People's Funeral Service LLC. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 from 1:00PM-7:00PM at the funeral home. Deacon Harvey joined the church at an early age in Stewart County. He later moved to Columbus, Georgia where he was a Member of Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He later joined Forrest Park Baptist Church where he became a Deacon of the Deacon Ministry. He served there faithfully until the Lord guided him to Twelve Disciples Missionary Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry for seven years. In April 2015 Deacon Harvey joined Present Age Ministries, Columbus, GA and served as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry until his death. Deacon Harvey was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ruth Ann Albright in April 1987 and became a blended family with fourteen children. Sovereign Illustrious Harvey Joined Modern Free and Accepted Masons of the World, Inc. In 1981 and became a member of New Hope Lodge 545. He served as Worshipful Master and Past Master of New Hope until December 1994. In January 1995, Brother Harvey became a member of Hiram United Sovereign Grand Lodge serving as Worshipful Master and Past Master of Progress Lodge #260. In May 1998 Brother Harvey was elected Grand Master of Nehemiah Grand Lodge, State of Georgia. While serving as Grand Master of the state of Georgia Brother Harvey was elected Sovereign Grand Treasurer of Hiram United Sovereign Grand Lodge in 1999, where he served until he exchanged time for eternity. He was elected Commander In Chief of the Carl G. Johnson, Jr. #357 Sovereign Grand Consistory of the 32nd Degree of Masonry in February 2000. In February 2003 Brother Harvey, being a three time Past Grand Master of Nehemiah Grand Lodge, Past Commander in Chief of the Carl G. Johnson Jr. Consistory was elected to serve as the Illustrious Supreme Sovereign Grand Secretary General of the Original Supreme Council of Sovereign Grand Inspector Generals of the 33rd and last Degree for United States of America, Its Territories and Dependencies. He leaves to celebrate his homegoing, his loving and dedicated wife of 29 years, Ruth Harvey; eleven children; one brother, Willie Harvey and host of nieces, nephews, grand and great grandchildren, cousins and a Masonic and Eastern Star family from across the globe.

Lois W. Hightower January 25, 1925- June 19, 2016 Columbus, GA- Lois W. Hightower, 91, of Columbus, GA, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016. She was born January 25, 1925 in Jesup, GA to her late parents Riley and Selma Higgingbottam Williams. Mrs. Hightower had lived in Columbus since the 1940's and was a member of Evangel Temple and the Bethal Sunday School Class. She had retired from the Insurance Business and loved to visit with her family, neighbors and friends. The family will welcome guests Friday, June 24, 2016, 12:00 pm in The Chapel of The Pines Mausoleum at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA for visitation followed by a 1:00 pm Celebration of Lois' Life with Reverend Watson MCKemie officiating. Along with her parents, Mrs. Hightower is preceded in death by her husband Dan Hightower; one sister, Joyce Jones, and brother in-law and sister in-law Homer L. and Mildred Hightower. She is survived by her brother, Hugh (Rosie)Williams of Waycross, GA; sister, Maire (Guy) Bieanco of Fayetteville, NC; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends and neighbors. Mrs. Hill was born April 2, 1926 in Salem, AL daughter of the late Joseph Glenn Herring and Mary Elizabeth Bishop Herring. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ellerslie, GA. She also volunteered at St. Francis. She devoted her life to service and sacrifice. She loved children, especially her grandchildren, and devoted herself to a lifetime of service at Wesley Heights Baptist Church working as the 4 and 5-year-old Sunday School teacher and AWANA. Survivors include her daughter, Alice Peters (Brett) of Midland, GA, sons, Edwin F. Hill (Barbara) of Cumming, GA and Michael D. Taylor (Elisabeth) of Columbia, SC, grandchildren, Caroline Peters, Bradley Peters, Ellen Hill, Sarah Hill Jones (Colby), John F. Hill, Steve E. Hill, Kellie P. Hill, Lori A. Hill and Michelle Taylor, and great grandchildren, Jeremiah Huckaby, Clayton Tiemeyer, Reese Tiemeyer, Josuah Jones, Abigail Jones, and Naomi Jones. Mrs. Hix was a loving mother and grandmother. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Durwood Hix, brothers, Jimmy Hutto, and Joel Hutto, and sister, Mary L. Wesley. Survivors include daughters, Deborah Jenrette (Wade), Judy Carol Smith (Douglas), and Lynn Holloway (Jimmy) and Jaycie; son, Derrell Hix (Cheryl); sister, Joyce Adams (Danny) and Steven; brothers, Dan Hutto (Ellen), J.L. Hutto, and Sammy Hutto; grandchildren, Brendan Hix (Meghan) and child, Easton, and Nadia Massey and children.
