Col. (ret.) Kendrick B. Barlow, Jr. July 2, 1924- May 23, 2016 Columbus, GA- Col. (ret.) Kendrick B. Barlow, Jr., 91, of Columbus, GA died Monday, May 23, 2016 at Spring Harbor. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2100 Hilton Avenue, Columbus, GA, 31906 with Dr. Rev. Grace Burton-Edwards officiating. A private interment will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. Col. Barlow was born July 2, 1924 in Savannah, TN. He was the son of the late Kendrick B. Barlow, Sr. and Ruth Jones Barlow. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnne Clark Barlow, his parents and his sister, Ann Poole. He graduated from West Point Academy and married his beloved JoAnne in June of 1946. They were married 65 years before her death in 2011. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars as well as being an ROTC instructor at the University of West Virginia and at the U.S. Army War College. He was a dedicated and loyal military officer, husband, and father. He retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Army in Columbus in 1975. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the Columbus Country Club and the Retired Officer's Club. Upon retiring, he spent many hours on the golf course with his golfing buddies. He also enjoyed visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was blessed to have long-lasting friendships throughout his life. Survivors include his daughters, Susan "Sudi" Andrews of Columbus, GA and Robin Barlow of Paradise, CA, grandchildren, Joy Greenhow (James) of Upatoi, GA, Adam Shy (Elizabeth) of Paradise, CA and Zachary Shy (Laura) of Oakland, CA, and great grandchildren, Kate Shy and Zain Shy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church or to Columbus Hospice 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 www.columbushospice.com . Frances K. Batts July 8, 1924- May 20, 2016 Columbus, Georgia- Frances K. Batts, 91, of Columbus, GA passed into eternal peace Friday, May 20, 2016. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 23, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby with Reverend Dr. Richard Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Edgewood Hall, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA. Frances, daughter of the late Lucy and Thomas Keith, was born in Geneva, AL on July 8, 1924. She was a graduate of Columbus Vocational Technical Institute as a Certified Nurse Aid. Frances provided in home health care for terminally ill patients giving medical attention, comfort, love and reassurance for their families. She was a member of the St. Francis Women's Auxiliary and was a volunteer "Pink Lady" managing the Gift Shop. Frances was a long time member of Sherwood Methodist Church where she served as a loving childcare provider at their daycare facility and taught elementary Sunday school classes and vacation bible school. She was also a member of Upatoi United Methodist Church. Most notable, she deeply loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her beloved family and the beauty on this Earth. Other than her parents, Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Hamilton Batts, Jr. She was a loving mother survived by her four children: Annette Adams (L.E.) of Fortson, GA., Brenda Mordic (Buddy) of Upatoi, GA., Rick Batts (Cheryl) of Midland, GA and Mike Batts (Lisa) of Tallahassee, FL; she was "grandma" to ten grandchildren: Brad Brooks (Amy), Charlie Mordic (Amber), Jennifer Tovey (Dean), Richard Mordic (Christi), Ricky Batts (Lauren), Cami Batts, Kelly Welborn (Hunter), Joe Batts, Jordan Batts and Erin Batts; three great grandchildren Brittany Brooks Crosby (Troy), Kate Tovey and Philip Mordic; one great great grandson Allen Crosby. Flowers will be accepted, memorial contributions may be offered to Upatoi United Methodist Church, 13730 Macon Rd, Upatoi, GA 31829 or Columbus Hospice at www.columbushospice.org . Boyett, Charles Rudolph - Athens  
Charles Rudolph Boyett October 10, 1930- May 22, 2016 Athens, GA- Charles Rudolph Boyett, 85, of Athens, GA, died after a long illness, surrounded by family on May 22, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ivey Boyett and Willie Mae Boyett. Charles was loved by all for his devotion to his family, his intelligence and his gentle nature. Charles graduated from Georgia Tech in 1954 with a degree in textile engineering. He was Commander of an Army ammunition unit in Germany during 1955 and 1956. Charles performed operations in both West and East Germany. He returned to Columbus, GA in 1956 and became superintendent of Bibb Manufacturing in 1963. While there he assisted in the revision of a mathematics textbook and taught a math class. Charles moved to Athens in 1974 and held supervisory positions at Wellington Puritan in Madison, GA. Charles is survived by his wife, Thelma Boyett; his sons, David and Mark Boyett and two cousins, Joann Kenimer of Dothan, AL and June Davis of Phenix City, AL. Bobby E. Bradley April 19, 1934- May 25, 2016 Ft. Mitchell, AL- Bobby E. Bradley, 82, of Ft. Mitchell passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center while surrounded by his family. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Oswichee Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. EST(1:00 P.M. CST) with Reverend Ralph Henderson officiating. A visitation is scheduled for Friday from 5 until 7 EST(4 until 6 CST) at Vance Memorial Chapel. Mr. Bradley was born April 19, 1934 in Phenix City to the late Woodrow W Bradley and Elva Hook Bradley. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a teacher at Faith Middle School for 32 years. He was also a member of Oswichee Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Wade A. Bradley. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Irma Bradley of Ft. Mitchell; his son, Jeff Bradley and wife Danielle of Phenix City; two grandchildren, Wynn Bradley and Josh Bradley of Phenix City; sister Frances Park and husband John of Deatsville, AL; brother Wayne Bradley and wife Kathy of Phenix City; several nieces and nephews and other extended family. Lorraine was born June 19, 1955 in Berlin, Germany daughter of Virginia Hartley Brayman of Ellerslie, GA and the late William Robert Brayman, Sr. She was a graduate of Kingston High School in Rhode Island and attended Columbus State University. She was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. She worked in Transportation for the Civil Service and was a member of Pinehurst Baptist Church. She loved animals, babies, and jewelry. Survivors other than her mother include her sisters, Virginia "Bunny" Baxley of Columbus, GA and Thea Williams (Richard) of Cataula, GA, brother, William Robert Brayman, Jr., numerous nieces and nephews, William Robert Brayman, III, Matthew Carl Brayman, Stacey Marie Williams and her daughter, Marisa, Christopher Brayman Williams and his son, Riley, Ginny Baxley Daniels (Michael) and their children, Morgan, Micah, and Marleigh. Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to PAWS Humane 4900 Milgen Rd. Columbus, GA 31909.
