Phenix City, Alabama- Clara M. Singleton Anderson, 84, of Phenix City, Alabama, died Sunday April 28, 2013 in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held 3:00pm Wednesday May 1st in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N/280 W, Phenix City, Alabama, 36867, with the Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday 1 hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Anderson was born February 28, 1929 in Pike County, Alabama, daughter of the late Sollie McLendon and Mittie Jane Thomas McLendon. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Columbus and the Adult #3 Sunday
School Class. She was also a member of the senior citizens group in Columbus. Other than her parents Mrs. Anderson is preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Singleton and William M. Anderson, Jr., 3 sisters, 1 brother, 2 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Horace Calloway of Morris, AL., Hazel and Richard Pitts of Phenix City, stepchildren, Ken Anderson and wife Teresa, Dewayne Jenkins and wife Dena, David Jenkins and wife Audrey, Ann Guthrie and husband Huey,
Julie Kennedy and husband David, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. To offer condolences please visit www.shphenixcity.com.

I always enjoyed talking to Mrs. Clara, she was such a nice person. The neighborhood won't be the same without her.

Ms Anderson was a patient at the doctors office where I work. She would always make sure to give me a hug everytime she came into the office. I will miss seeing her smiling face but am comforted that she has found peace.

I was very saddened to learn of Mrs. Anderson's passing. Dottie White and I visited her recently and she told us she was ready any time the Lord called her. She was a sweet lady and will be missed at Grace.
