Roy sold me my 1st, 2nd and 3rd Corvette as I grew up in my hometown of Columbus. Since moving to California, he was one that I always tried to see each time I returned for a visit. Surprisingly enough, after moving away almost 30 years ago, I could still always find Roy at Bill Heard Chevrolet and he was always the same as before I left.

My sincere condolences to the Wilborn family. I met Roy through the old Business League we had in Columbus in the early 70s. Recently I wrote about Roy and his association with the organization in "The Courier-Eco/Latino Newspaper" The article was published on July 24th. Roy and I spent time on the telephone reminiscing about those years. I have included an exert from that article below:
Member Roy Wilborn, who has been a sales agent at Bill Heard Chevrolet for 40 years, illustrates very vividly the personal resources that individual members brought into force within the organization as we shared strengths and ideas. He says. “Swapping ideas among the group was great. I wanted to sell cars and I wanted to work at Bill Heard Chevrolet. It took me two years to get on there. I started there on August 12, 1968. In selling, you set your own salary. The harder you work, the more you can earn. There is no limit. I pictured myself being the top agent at the dealership. Dreams do come true. I set the goal of five years before I would be tops. I reached it within three years. I was top producing agents for a total 69 months of my time with the company.”
Roy also sold me a car in 1977. Somehow I just believe that he is still selling in the other dimension now.

Roy affected a great many people in is life time. He was my father-in-law. Roy was a role model and respected by many people. With his many contributions to the Columbus and Eufala communities; his respected involvement in church and his constant work as a master salesman. Roy will be missed by all of us. To my family, I regrat that I can not be with you on this day... So I am adding this poem.

Love from Mickey.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, ""I welcome you.""

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......""My day was not in vain.""
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I knew Mr. Roy Wilborn because we lived in the same neighborhood, East Lindsey Creek, and I attended the same high school, Columbus High School, along with his children. He also sold me a Chevrolet Cavalier when he was a salesman at Bill Heard Chevrolet in Columbus, Georgia in 1978! I knew him as a very respectable man who was not afraid to let his own light shine so that others could see him as a devout Christian! My prayers go out to his family at this time of his bereavement, as well as the days ahead, and I hope that you all know that although you and others may have loved him well during the time of life given him, God loved him best!

How sad I was to read of the passing of such a wonderful man. I worked with Roy at BH for many years. After the passing of my father in July 96, Roy would make a point to ask me every day if there was anything he could do for me. I moved from the Columbus area ten years ago but you never forget those who made a mark upon your heart. He lives in our fond memories.

MR. WILBORN was one of my dear friends, he was always strong graceful and elite among men. I think that Mr. Roy Wilborn was is and shall forever be one of the people whom God has blessed eternally. Roy always called me and gave me great advice, I purchased cars from him and he convinced me to sale cars. Mr. Wilborn, commanded the greateest respect from salesmen or staff customers and other people in the vacany in so many many ways. In church it was a honor to see Mr. Wilborn worshipping God. His death is not a lost but a transformation from earth to heaven. Continuous prayers and grace is rendered to your entire family and church; God alway fills voids in our life with His greater abundance of love grace and mercy. His peace will be with you and God will cover your family throughout enternity. Holy Blessing .RT,Rev.Bishop Markus Hammonds
