Columbus, GA- Funeral service for SFC (Ret) Doc Edward Alford,70, who passed on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Vista Care Hospice will be conducted on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at New Destiny Church, 1726 Boxwood Pl with Full Military Honors. Rev. Dequindrae Hardnett, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA. according to the Charles E. Huff's International Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Today, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 2:00P.M. until 6:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart from the residence 1 Trestlewood Ct at 11:15 A.M.
SFC (Ret) Alford was born January 12, 1942 in Columbus, GA to the late Mary Holland Alford and Thomas Alford.
He was a retired United States
Army Veteran serving his country in the Viet Nam Conflict. He was the reciepient of the Viet Nam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Viet Nam Galantry Cross Unit Citation Badge with Palm, Army Commendation Medal with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Shirley Alford, Columbus, GA; two sisters, Christine Dudley, New Haven, FL and Josephine Russell of Cleveland, OH; one granddaughter, Jordan Hughes and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
