Columbus, GA- Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Lee R. Little of Columbus passed away Wednesday at Gentiva Hospice. He was 73 years of age and resided at 5727 Lexington Drive.
Born in McRae, GA on May 23, 1940, Sergeant Little was the son of Ms. May Bell Little. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, retiring after 31 years of service; and obtained his Masters degree from Troy State University. He was employed as a counselor for over 20 years within the prison system, working at Jack T. Rutledge Correctional Institute, and retiring from the Harris County State Prison. He was a member of St. James Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon; the Sergeant Majors and Purple Heart Associations. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lannie B. Long Little; his sister, Lillie M. James and a sister-in-law, Christine Davis.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jacquelene Bridges (Troy); four sons, Lee R. Little, Jr. (Telesia), Marvin Little (Barbara), Norris Little (April) and Edwin Little (Tifni); seventeen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Garrett and Iola Graves; one brother-in-law, Burl Long (Mozell); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for CSM Lee will be Friday, 11:00 a.m. at St. James Missionary Baptist Church with interment following in Main Post Cemetery. Rev. Ralph Huling will officiate. The visitation is Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a family hour from 5 until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 10:30 the morning of the service.
