Columbus, GA- Mrs. Marie J. Cobb of Columbus passed away peacefully Monday at the Columbus Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was 67 years of age and resided at 335 Yuchi Avenue.
The daughter of Mrs. Alice Jones Jackson of Columbus and the late Edward Jackson, Mrs. Cobb was born in Ft. Benning, GA on July 24, 1945. She was a 1963 graduate of the George W. Carver High School and was a member of Ward Chapel AME Church. She attended Carver Heights Presbyterian Church, and was retired from Civil Services, Ft. Benning after 33 years as a records officer.
Survivors include: her husband, Daniel H. Cobb; two sons, William Whaley, Jr. (Pam) and Antonio Jenkins; three daughters, Veronica Vargo (Jimmy), China Dungian and Jasmine Lee; ten grandchildren, a brother, Edward Jackson, Jr. (Faye); a niece, Felisa Jackson; two nephews, Derrick and Brian Jackson; loving in-laws, Frazier, John and Patricia Cobb and Claudia Noble; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Cobb will be Saturday, 11:00 am at Carver Heights Presbyterian Church with Rev. Virgil Marshall, pastor officiating. The interment will be held Monday, 11:00 am at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. Visitation is Friday,2 til 6:00 pm at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 10:30 the morning of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
