Columbus, Georgia- Sarah Shaw, age 70, resident of Columbus, died on Monday, March 18, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. Funeral services will be held at the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus on Thursday, March 21, 2013, 3 p.m. with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 5-7 p.m.
Mrs. Shaw, daughter of the late Vernon Garner and Audie Burns Garner, was born December 17, 1942 in Columbus. She was a devoted wife and beloved mother. Mrs. Shaw was a proud member of the Phenix City Women of the Moose where she faithfully served for over 30 years. During this tenure, she was awarded an Academy of Friendship Degree; was a former Star Recorder; and was currently Senior Regent.
Mrs. Shaw was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Howard. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Artie Shaw of Columbus; two daughters, Pat Linbaugh and her husband Gene of Slidell, Louisianna and Anita McCullough and her husband Bill of Columbus; two sons, Nestor Grafals and his wife Donna of Columbus and Robert "Bob" Grafals and his wife Roberta of Kennesaw, Georgia; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
