Robert Chumney Obituary

Robert Ray Chumney June 25, 1925 - October 7, 2010 PHENIX CITY, AL— Robert "Ray" Chumney, 85 of Phenix City, AL passed away Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. EST Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Lakeview Memory Gardens. Rev. Sammy Turner will officiate the service according to Vance Memorial Chapel, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends this evening (Friday) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. EST at the funeral home. Mr. Chumney was born June 25, 1925 in Banks, Alabama, son of the late Joseph Chumney and Thelma Darrell Chumney. He was the owner of Chumney Fender and Body Repair and was a Baptist by faith. In the past he enjoyed boat racing and fishing in Florida. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters Mavis Bundrick and Mary Post and a step daughter, Linda Ellis. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sibyl Clark Chumney of Phenix City, AL; his children Barbara Kelly of Phenix City, Joyce Chumney of Five Points, AL, Marie Frith of Columbus, GA, Tony Chumney and wife Jane of Huntsville, AL; Stepdaughters, Sharon Carsten and husband Pete of  Hatchechubbee, AL, Kathy Glenn and husband Delmar of Bowling Green, KY and Sheila Aaron of  Phenix City; A special grandson Gary Chumney and wife Angie of Phenix City, AL; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and much extended family and caring friends.
