Columbus, GA- David Ralph Weise, Jr., 52, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at St. Luke United Methodist Church 1104 2nd Avenue Columbus, GA 31901 with Mr. Rick Hobbs officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Weise was born November 23, 1958 in Chicago, IL son of Judith Geiger Weise of Cataula, GA and the late Dr. David Ralph Weise, Sr. He was a self employed homebuilder.
Survivors other than his mother include his daughter, Chasity Weise Hobbs (Rick) of Columbus, GA, son, Justin Forrest Weise of Columbus, GA, sisters, Georgia Lynn Forehand of Columbus, GA and Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Shepard of Buena Vista, GA, brother, Christopher Alexander Weise of Phenix City, AL, two grandchildren, Shelton Parker and Brighton Hobbs, and former wife, Susan Weise of Columbus, GA.

We, the Burris family, send our condolences. We, too go way back to Edgewood, Richards and Hardaway with David. I graduated with him and have thought of him many times over the years. I'm very sad for your loss and ours.

I'm sorry to hear about David. I'd say we went back as far as about anyone, to elementary and junior high (Cub Scouts, 5th grade bowling league, train trip to Washington, pickup football in the front yard)...and I'm sorry we lost touch over the years after my family moved. I miss him and the whole Weise/Geiger family. Sincere condolences.

We met David 25 years ago when we rented his duplex and watched Justin grow from a newborn to a 4 year old. David became a good friend that you could count on. He also introduced us to the joy of collecting baseball cards which we continue to this day. We will Pray that God comforts all those who mourn the loss of this very special guy.

I have only known David for about 3 years. I also played pool with him. It is so sad for such a fine young man to have his life cut short. My heart and prayers go out to his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
