Columbus, GA- Jeannette Mitchell Smith, 69, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 1, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Thomas Pope and Reverend Udell Addison officiating. A private interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Waverly Hall, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Smith was born October 9, 1941 in Donalsonville, GA daughter of the late Joseph Henry Mitchell and Susie Bell Brown Mitchell Bradley. She was a homemaker and an active member of Central Baptist Church in Columbus, GA. She was the WMU Director for the Columbus Baptist Association and also the regional WMU Director of the Georgia Baptist Convention. She was an avid cardmaker and scrapbooker.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Caitlyn Clark.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Clarence J. Smith of Columbus, GA, son, Robert Smith (Kim) of Midland, GA, daughter, Barbara Clark (Chris) of Ladonia, AL, grandsons, Nic Clark (Carmen), Andrew Clark (Brittany), Robbie Smith and Cameron Smith, great grandchild, Shelby Clark, sister, Geraldine Meadows (Don) of Winter Garden, FL, brothers, Ernie Mitchell of Atlanta, GA, Robert Mitchell (Ruth) of Winter Garden, FL, Harry Mitchell (Sue) of Atlanta, GA and Grady Mitchell (Sandy) of Orlando, FL, eleven nieces and nephews, step father, Hubert E. Bradley, four step brothers, and two step sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Central Baptist Church Building Fund 8303 Whitesville Rd. Columbus, GA 31904.
