To the Spence Family, So saddened to read about your dad. He and my husband, Dan were roommates at Princeton the first year. Your mom and I shared the common bond of being graduate students wives. In the annual Christmas letters, they were always so proud of you. Please accept my belated condolences on the loss of your terrific parents. Alma Sandman

I have known Gavin since high school in Whitinsville MA 60 years ago. Though we have only intermittently kept up through high school reunions and occasional e-mails, I was always impressed that he was a very bright, gentle man and very much involved with his family. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. He will be missed.
