Salem, AL- Bennie Foy "Red" Coggins, 89, of Salem, AL passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 while spending time at his daughter's home and their family at Jacksonville, FL.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm EDT Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with his nephews, Rev. Tim Baird and Rev. James Baird officiating. Interment with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Coggins was born April 7, 1926 in Louisville, AL to the late Will Coggins and Alice Scroggins Coggins. He was retired with Singer Sewing Machine Company and had served as Veteran of the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of the Shriners Alcazar Temple and Wilson Williams Lodge 351; he enjoyed water skiing, golf and family time. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Jessie Baker, Willie Ingram, Nora Knerr, Ronnie Younger, and Catherine Howell.
He is survived by a loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Mary "Frances" Barton Coggins of Salem, AL, one daughter, Cindy Lacey and husband Steve of Orange Park, FL, one son, Mike Coggins and wife Judy of San Antonio, TX.
(5) grandchildren, Scott Lacey (Melissa), Chris Coggins (Sheri), Tera Sowers (Brady), Shawn Coggins (Crystal), and Jeff Coggins (Jamie), (13) great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
