Phenix City, AL- Mr. Lawrence Hicks Davis, 79, of 200 16th Street, Apt. 101-A, Phenix City, AL passed Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Columbus Hospice.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST, Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL Rev. J.W. Jones, officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Phenix City, AL. Visitation is Friday, February 19, 2016 from 2 - 8 p.m. EST according to Taylor Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Davis was born April 1, 1936 in Russell County, AL to the late Alonzo Davis and the late Katie Mae Davis. He served in the US Army, worked as an educator at Ft. Valley State College and had played basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters.
Survivors include one son, Dexter Davis of Detroit, MI; one brother, Dan (Sarah) Davis of Columbus, GA; devoted nephews and nieces, Gregory (Patricia) Luke, Lisa Oliver and Marissa Oliver and a host of other relatives and friends.
