Columbus, GA- Mrs. Annie Ruth Hill of Columbus passed away Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Columbus Regional Medical Center. She was 81 years of age and resided at 3611 Ukraine Avenue.
The daughter of the late Spencer Sr. and Deland Lockhart Banks, Mrs. Hill was born in Seale, AL on July 10, 1932. She was a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served as an Usher and was an advisor to the Jr. Usher's Ministry. She was a homemaker and attended the E. J. Knight, Gallop and Rainbow Adult Day Centers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvest Hill.
Survivors include: her daughter, Mrs. Bernice H. Young; a step daughter, Emma Johnson (Will); three grandchildren, Lakeisha Young, Harold Hill and Damien Young; eleven great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, a brother, David Banks; two sisters, Georgia Tarver and Deland Jackson (Vernon); a sister-in-law, Rita Hill; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Hill will be Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church with interment in Evergreen Memorial Park. The visitation is today, 2 til 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The cortege will depart from the residence at 12:30 the day of the service. Arrangements entrusted to the staff of Progressive Funeral Home, Inc. "A Touch of Dignity for Those Who Care."
