June 23, 2013
Columbus, GA- Ella America Breedlove Adams, 88, entered her Lord's Courts With Praise on June 23, 2013.
The celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Monroe, GA, at 3:00, Saturday, June 29, 2013, with visitation at 2:00 in the fellowship hall.
She was born on September 20th, 1924. Her parents were Mattie Fleeta Estes Breedlove and Thomas Richard Breedlove, Sr. She was 11 months younger than her sister, Hassie. Her parents had three more children after her, making the total 4 girls and 4 boys.
Ella grew up on Breedlove Dairy Farm. One of her crowning achievements was being President of the Beta Club at Monroe High. She rode her bike daily to her first job at the bank in Monroe.
At age 21 she took the train with 9 other girls to Daytona Beach where she and sailor Floyd Adams met. Floyd and Ella were married in a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Sara, and Henry Verner in September 1947. Floyd and Ella were married for 63 years. They made their home in Columbus, GA, for 33 years, and in Monroe, GA, for 25 years.
Ella fulfilled the scripture of the Proverbial Woman. She was of noble character as Floyd's wife and as a mother had faithful instruction of God's wisdom on her tongue. Her value was far above rubies. A woman who fears The Lord is to be praised. Her family calls her blessed and themselves blessed by her.
Ella served Jesus by teaching Sunday School to young girls for many, many years. She served on a board for abused children as well as taught young adults to read. She worked at Ft. Benning, GA, for 11 years as a Supply Technician. She ministered during times of need by baking her pecan pies for many families. Having "America" as her middle name, Ella treasured her country. America, America, God shed His grace on 'her.'
Her last years were spent as a resident of Spring Harbor retirement community in Columbus, GA. Her family is deeply grateful for their loving care.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Floyd W. Adams. Her three devoted children and spouses are, Karen (Herb) Sheheane, Barbara (Mike) Summers, and David (Teresa) Adams. She joyfully answered to the name, "LALA," from her grandchildren who adore her, including Dene (Carrie) Sheheane, Tish (Rob) Bachert, Gabe (Nichole) Sheheane, Zachary and Austin Slay, Lindsay (Chas) Darnell, Tattie Grace Estes, and Rachel and Daniel Adams. Her Christian legacy continues with her great grandchildren: Riley, Max, and Tess Sheheane, Robby and Ella Bachert, Allura, Hunter, and Bening Sheheane, Alyssa, Madison, and Grady Darnell who all love their LALA.
