Columbus, GA- Mr. Lenn C. Washington, Sr (MSG Ret. USA) of Columbus, died Sunday at St. Francis Hospital. He was 69 years old and resided at 144 Sweetwater Drive.
A native of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Mr. Washington was born March 19, 1943, a son of Mrs. Mattie B. Anderson and the late Willie Washington.
Residing in Columbus since 1986, he retired from the U.S. Army after over 23 years of services. Amongst his many awards and medals was the purple heart. He was a senior vice president with Primerica Insurance Company. He was a member of Bread of Life Christian Center Church serving as a Elder, president of the Ministers Board and as a Ward Captain. He was a Prince Hall Mason and a patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by two sons, Craig and Rodrick Washington, and three daughters, Valerie, Shurrita and Kelli Washington.
Other than his mother, he is survived by a devoted wife, Mrs. Alice M. Washington; one son, Lenn C. Washington, Jr; three daughters, Pamela Washington-Johnson (Vincent), Dawn L. Klauman (Galen) and Robin N. Pugh(Joseph); nine grandchildren; twelve brothers, twelve sisters; a step-mother, Joyce D. Washington; one uncle, Rev. Jesse Washington (Lois); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Washington will be laid to rest at Main Post Cemetery, Ft. Benning, GA on Today after a 11:00 A.M. Homegoing Celebration at Bread of Life Christian Center Church. Bishop L.D. Skinner will officiate. The cortege will depart from the residence Today at 10:15 A.M. Arrangements entrusted to Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
