Columbus, GA- Mrs. Mary Frank Johnson of Columbus, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House. She was 73 years old and resided at 3520 Stratford Drive.
A native of Stone Mountain, GA., and the daughter of the late Willie Frank Pegues and Sarah Randall Woodard, Mrs. Johnson was born on July 21, 1939.
Residing in Columbus for the past fifty years, Mrs. Johnson retired as a Bus Driver with the Muscogee County School District after over twenty plus years of services. A devout member of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, she was a member of the Deaconess Ministry. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Virginia Gale Brooks and Debbie Bryant.
Surviving are a devoted husband of forty three years, Mr. Willie Johnson; two sons, Thaddeus Johnson(Torondo) and Philip Johnson(Keaisha); four daughters, Jacquelyn Pless(Willie), Pamela L. Frazier(Limie), Elaine Wooden and Charrissee Smith(Jack); seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Clark(Ervin) and Lillie Williams(Robert); two sisters-in-law, Ocie Griggs and Nellie Baldwin(Roosevelt); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Johnson will be laid to rest at Green Acres Cemetery on Thursday after a Eleven O'Clock Homegoing Celebration in the sanctuary of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Gerald Parker officiating, Pastor James Gant, Eulogist. There will be no public viewing. The cortege will depart from the residence Thursday at 10:15 A.M. Arrangements by Progressive Funeral Home, Inc.
